The lead character, Silas, sees voices. He observes the ambient noise of a room, and these phantasmal feelings become his internal music. He is overwhelmed by the visual stimuli and small actions that the rest of us take for granted. Ophelia, on the other hand is self-absorbed and she certainly fails to appreciate the significance of his actions. Silas wakes up with Ophelia but he leaves before she gets a chance to recognise the space between them, filled with misunderstanding.
